I’m really feeling this sub, only had about two weeks… but I’m enjoying it thoroughly. I have it paired with an Alpine MRP-M500 1-channel Amp and ported box made by SoundXpressions, to me my setup sounds phenomenal. I compared my single 12″ sub to my buddy’s 15″ Rockford sub, and we both agreed my 12 sounds cleaner and hits harder than his sub. I have the gain on the amp about half way up and the bass on my factory deck at standard “0″, anything above that and it’s too much. My wife tells me she hears my bass a few seconds before I actually get home!! I can’t imagine how two of these would sound.
All and all, if you’re on a budget ( like I was) I highly recommend this sub. Very Very Pleased!!

these subs r for anyone who wants nice clean(loud) bass at the cheapest price cant find these subs at best buy(only the 4ohm) or any major retailer sounds f^@king great in my grand am just make sure u got the right amp 4 these bad boys im going with 2 alpine mrp-m500 max power to each speaker and this will rumble u in places u never thought ud want rumbled but all in all surely the best speakers for the price but if u got the extra money id go with the JL audio 12w3v3′s they r just better built

These subs are great! I’ve had them in my trunk for about a year now and they still sound amazing. I have them in a ported box wired to a hifonics brutus 1200w amplifier. Im giving each sub 600 watts and it still sounds great. Definitely a good buy.

I’ve had this for several years now and I haven’t had a problem with it at all. It hits really hard and I don’t even use it to full capacity because it can be too much bass at times. It hits really deep/hard, I have it in a ported box and it sounds very clean. I’m powering it with a Kenwood KAC amp, running more than 500w RMS. I shouldn’t be doing that, but still it hasn’t blown anyway.

i had a kicker comp vr and it was a little less money then this. i havce an alpine 500 watt rms amp, and thats what i was running with the compvr, for a while it was hitting smoothly. it sooned burned out. literally. i got this and now i can turn that amp up all the way and the alpine type r can handle it easily. i am so happy with it that i want to upgrade and get two.

i just got one of these and put it in my 91 gli, i got the alpine mrp-m650 too. i got it wired at 4ohms and with the amp thats 400w rms to the sub, and it is so damn loud. but not just loud, clear too cause i got it in a sealed box. its prolly twice as loud in a ported but ive heard it doesnt sound as clean. Anyways, you cannot beat this sub for the price, or even some more expensive dont even compare to this one. i wonder what the type x sounds like? anyways if your looking around for the best sub for price you’ve found it.

I have 4 type-r’s in my suv and soon going to 6. I am obsessed with this sub and for good reason. For no more than 150 bucks a sub, these subs are the sickest things on the market. I used to run 1000 watts RMS on these and they did FINE! With only two type-r’s, I hit a 150dB on the meter. ONLY USE A PORTED BOX THOUGH! If you use a sealed box for too long they will blow up! But enough about that. If you want a GREAT sub for a GREAT price.. Type-r’s are the way to go. THESE THINGS ARE SO FRICKIN’ LOUD!!!!!

i have one alpine 12 type in a atrend ported box and my system slaps so hard it hurts anyone ears for hours after listening to it. i just got pulled over the other day and the cop said he could hear me for 1000 feet and he has been hearing me for two weeks and that was with out a ported box i just got the box and it starts to hurt my ears after i had already got used to the sound.
also i have a mrp500 alpine amp powering it and ti is not close to half way turned up
I totally recommend this sub i love it and if i had the room i would get tw in my car..
